AlpineWeb Announces Control Panel Upgrades

There has been a complete redesign of both the front end information architecture and the back end control panel infrastructure to give you a more powerful solution. The improvements featured in Signature 4.0 are a result of customer feedback. We want to provide a platform that is flexible for your future needs. Here are some highlights: **Enhanced the Control Panel GUI by creating logical locations of features. **Enhanced the speed of the control panel **AJAX enabled functionality - Enhanced the configurability of the Signature Control panel using AJAX. Spam Filtering Improvements

Dear AlpineWeb Customer, One of the most frequent requests we hear from our customers is to help reduce the amount of unsolicited commercial email (spam) they receive in their email systems. In addition to the other spam filtering options already available, we have recently added an additional control for you called Spam Filtering Sensitivity. Setting Filtering Sensitivity Login to your control panel yourdomain.com/ControlPanel/ as an end user. For example if you email address is <a href="mailto:sunshine@yourdomain.com">sunshine@yourdomain.com</a> - you would login as "sunshine" (all lower case). Note: No spam filter is 100% effective; you will probably still need to "weed out" spam from your mail from time to time, no matter what solution you use. To set filtering sensitivity: 1. Select My Mail from the Jump to: drop-down list. The My Mail Home window appears. 2. Click Filters. The Filters window appears. 3. In the Spam Filter Services Box you will find sensitivity options: Sensitivity: High (5): nearly all spam is caught. Medium (10): most spam is caught Low (15): obvious spam is caught Custom: (1-100) **The lower you go the more spam will be captured. This can also mean that more legitimate emails will get caught in your spam filter, however, you can use the whitelist feature to handle that. This does require that your trash folder be checked and cleaned out regularly. Go to My Mail > Folders > Trash - confirm that there are no legitimate emails there and then click on clear. The following updates were completed on 11/01/2006 on all servers: Signature: * PHP The PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor scripting language will be updated to version 4.4.4. This version brings the software to the most current 4.x version and addresses several issues, some dealing with security and vulnerabilities, including: - Added missing safe_mode/open_basedir checks inside the error_log(), file_exists(), imap_open() and imap_reopen() functions. - Fixed overflows inside str_repeat() and wordwrap() functions on 64bit systems. - Fixed possible open_basedir/safe_mode bypass in cURL extension. - Fixed overflow in GD extension on invalid GIF images. - Fixed a buffer overflow inside sscanf() function. - Fixed memory_limit restriction on 64 bit system.
